When we got frustrated at times when teaching Shannon to behave, we prayed, and God showed us Shannon's improvement in her behaviour and understanding...
When we were rejected from typical kindergarten to take in our special need child, we prayed, and God led us to a kindy in Kluang that was willing to give Shannon a chance to try out...
When we were concerned on Shannon's speech progress, we prayed, and God answered, and told us not to be disheartened, Shannon proved to us that she could speak in 2 words..
When we were worried if her hypothyroidism blood test is not OK, we prayed, and the latest result turned out fine, and the 2 months checkup could be lengthen to 4 months checkup...
In life, there is always a long list of things to worry about, especially parents with a special need child, they will tend to worry more, about the future of their child..,,and list goes on and on...
Some parents whom we have met and are parents to special need child, finds it rather hard to accept till today even after so many years (where some cases, their special kid is already in primary school), and they are still drowning themselves in self pity, and questioning why can this happen to them?
But for us, this is God's greatest gift for us, and we are so blessed and grateful. We learn that hardships and hard times were blessings in disguise. As the joy and spiritual lessons which are package along this journey are definitely priceless, and we learn to be a better person. God is our strength and pillar to lean on during difficult times, and to share our joy in every moments of our life. Whenever we feel despair and tired, we know where to lean on to continue this amazing journey of parenting, Being a parent of a special need child is not an easy path, and definitely no shortcut paths. Still, we enjoy this amazing journey, and looking forward to more joy to share with you in the coming year.
"Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep you hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4: 6-7)
